Wii U's are being sold everyday since it's release. NSMBU carried it until 3D World, then Kart n Smash came and they've all been helping keep the baseline where it is currently. I mean really now, for what other reason are Wii U's being bought for?

Super Mario 64 for the N64 did.

20 years ago when it was the most revolutionary game made to date. A hypothetical Galaxy 3 isn't a comparable to that. 

Mario 64 wasn't just a "Mario game" it was actually more like a revolutionary 3D game that just happened to have Mario in it.
