Metroid Prime 3 didn't do shit for the Wii either, lol. Just a shade over 1 million despite being released at the height of the Wii's popularity is actually fairly disappointing.
Nintendo could've released a Mario Poops game about Mario on a toilet for 4 hours and had it sell 2-3 million+ early on in the Wii cycle.
Everyone was hot on Wii Sports, and having some Mario was like having some pie for desert, everyone likes pie for desert, but don't get it twisted ... Wii Sports is what got them into the restaurant. Wii Sports was the main course, Mario was the side dish.
