I never heard or read about anyone watching a youtube or let's play vid to watch the story of video game so they wouldn't have to buy it. You're grasping at straw with that post. If you can show some articles/proof, by all means.

I have done it before (and I do it often) and I've read plenty of posts online/know people in real-life who have done it before. Most of the time you don't even need to watch a let's play. The cutscenes will be on youtube by themselves with no creative content (and they get plenty of views.) So....

For example, here is all Metal Gear Solid cutscenes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLTqIXZ1jQQ (64,000 views. )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a01GJ74X_R4 (Twin Snakes - 340,000 views.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AhGj4oisfU (Metal Gear Solid 4 - 277k views.)

Sure that barely affects a game like Metal Gear Solid, but a less acclaimed and more niche game would likely suffer larger losses from something like this. And sure not everybody who watched the cutscenes didn't play the game, but a percentage of them probably did. Even if they only watched half of the cutscenes they got enough of what they wanted for free.

You're just showing that people have watched youtube videos about video games. I'm asking if it's exists, to show that people watch youtube vids and let's plays in order to see the story of a game without having to buy or rent the game.
