| ChichiriMuyo said: There were plenty of changes to the hardware. Nothing as extravagant as an HD Wii would be, yet changes were made nonetheless. As long as all of the new games play on the old system it's good enough. And as those two handhelds have proven, Nintendo's loyal customers will pick up a new version of the system later in its life for even minor improvements. HD, considering that it will rule the TV market from 2009 on, will be a pretty sizable improvement. |
For such a sizeable improvement, it would be a programmer's nightmare to have to produce games that work on both the old Wii and an HD Wii. Just what exactly do you mean when you say HD? The ability to output in 720p? Or do you mean basically the capabilities of the PS3 or 360, because if you mean WiiHD games would look like a PS3/360 game, there's no way they could have the game play on both the new and old Wii. That would kill Nintendo.
EDIT: And as for the DS, no. There were no changes to any internal hardware, relatively. The microphone was moved to a better position, as was the power button. The stylus was made smaller. The screens are brighter. The GBA games now stick out slightly, due to the overall smaller size of the DS Lite.
I think that's it. All DS videogames are the same on the old DS and the new DS Lite...exactly the same.
You're talking about changing the Wii's hardware to make it more powerful, thus allowing for more complex and graphically intense games...there's no way the old Wii would be able to play the games...if it could, there would be no point in buying a WiiHD.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
