Yes another third party character, with Phil Spencer giving the "A Okay", all nintendo has to do is make the call. Obviously its all up to them, but anywayz this thread is talking about our boy Shovel Knight!
We got this from a popular Youtuber by the name Jwittz (huge with pokemon) with him asking on twitter if he should vote for Shovel Knight in the ballot. Yacht Club Games replies...

Personally i see Shovel Knight as the symbol of Indie games with how big it was when first release and how amazing it was overall.
Yacht would greatly benefit as an invite in SSB "is no joke"!
But obviously a character should be popular, and that is exactly what Shovel Knight is now. A recent poll had 4600 votes and number most voted by a long shot was our favorite Blue Digging Protagonist, Shovel Knight!
