NX Portable-$199.99, between Xbox 360 & Wii U in terms of specs that can handle Wii U level visuals/ports on a single 5" screen at 540p.

NX Console-$199.99, between Wii U & Xbox One in terms of specs that plays the same games at 1080p with some extra graphical effects.

Mobile phones gfx chips are starting to hit well above Xbox360 and Wii U performance soon. So the handheld will need to be better than that, since people will otice the qulity in the game visual otherwise and will stick to their mobile phones plus controller.

The console needs to be much more powerfl than Xbox One to hit 1080p. Xbox One can't even hit it. And no Nintendo games don't count as they don't even use any AA techniques or any for that matter so you still get jaggies so hardly pushign the bounds of 1080p.

Unifying them 100% would caue the sales IMHO to go down more because I cannot see NIntendo being smart enough in how they unified it. Each device would restrict the other. For example the handheld would restrict the power on the console, UNLESS Nintendo treated their hardware like a PC, Ultra settings vs high setting scalable engine, however I do not think they have the talent perhaps the desire to do that when basic things like AA is still missing from their games. This would be a HUGE directional change step in thinking for them.

I think their hardware sales are going down no matter what.

It's just a matter of in said situation what makes more sense.

Functionally too I simply don't think Nintendo can even support two discreet platforms anymore, not when the lower end platform is supposedly going to have at least Vita level visuals and presumably Nintendo fans are then assuming to console would be in the range of the PS4.

Look at how much trouble even experienced HD devs are having with just PS4/X1 development ... yet Nintendo, which is a very small company that's unwilling to expand too much, is going to support TWO platforms with relatively high end HD graphics?

Man if you think 3DS and Wii U owners are sour about their release schedule right now .... it's gonna get a lot worse if Nintendo tries to juggle two platforms next gen.

Oh yeah and those smartphone games aren't making themselves either. I'm not even sure if fusion is really an option for Nintendo more than a neccessity. In an age where even 3DS/Vita games can have staff sizes upwards of 80-100 people ... Nintendo simply doesn't have the manpower to support two discreet consoles with any more horsepower than the 3DS and Wii U have. Hell, they honestly are failing with the 3DS/Wii U as is in terms of being able to adequetely supply software as is.
