Yeah that's pretty much the case. It's Twilight Princess all over again, only this time it won't be a cross-generational title.

We got a reveal trailer for the new "adult" Link Zelda title at E3 2004 that got everyone hyped and set to be released in 2005, then nothing new on the game until E3 2005 when Nintendo teased their next system, code named Revolution, and were ambiguous when they said Zelda would be appearing on it, not saying specifically if it was the same Zelda already revealed for the GC. Then by E3 2006 they revealed they had indeed been working on 2 versions of the game for the GC and the Wii, which launched in November 2016.

Now look at the stuff that has recently transpired... at E3 2014 Nintendo shows off a reveal trailer for the next Zelda that gets everyone hyped. Less than a year later and Nintendo has already admitted the existence of their next console and revealed the code name to be NX, while confirming that not only has Zelda Wii U been delayed but it will not even make an appearance at this year's E3 due to some serious retooling of the game's core design. All signs point to a holiday 2016 release alongside their next console.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
