I didn't conviently ignore them. I just didn't see a point. The DS came out to be a companion device to the GBA, which went on to have a life of its own, the Xbox was Microsofts very first console so to me they have room to error. When it coems to this topic the Wii U is stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to the consumers.  And yes Nintendo is known for supporting consoles for at least 5 years, all of Nintendo's home consoels have had a life span of at least 5 years.

Nintendo only said it was a 3rd pillar because they needed a back up plan if it didn't catch on, it was always meant to be GBA successor.

They don't support consoles for 5 years, just because it exists for 5 doesn't mean it was supported. Like I just said, N64/GC/Wii support dried up after the 4th year, each only got a couple major titles after that point. Can u name me one single major GC title in 2006 other than Twilight Princess?

Exactly. Why not just skip the "sh*tty" last year altogether? Nintendo consoles are really only supported for 4 years with the GameCube honestly the arguement can be made that they bailed their main teams out after 2004 (the third year).
