Too rare? I disagree...seems like every other show is a slice of life/comedy and I've certainly seen quite a few that I've enjoyed more than Hanayamata.

Anyways, I think shows like this live or die based on their characters and when the characters aren't particularly interesting, I don't think it deserves a high score. Other shows get by on comedy or story or something else, but I'm not going to say a show is great if it does nothing remarkably well. It would have gotten an extra point or two if it actually turned out to be the visual feast I was expecting, but in the end, it was really just average, and as such, I gave it a 5/10.

Have you seen Hanayamata?

I enjoyed most of my time with Hanayamata but, yeah, it's pretty much just fluff.  There were plenty of moments where I was basically just crusing through the episode, like when you're eating while jacked up on cold medicine--you don't really taste anything, but you get some kind of comfort from going through the motions.  It could be really cute at times, though, and I really did like the conflict with the President, she's the main reason that I kept watching.  I'd probably give it a 6.  There is better fluff and there is much worse fluff out there.

As for upcoming anime I'm looking forward to watching:

Fate/Stay Night: UBW2 - This goes without saying, really.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru 2 - How can they top the melodrama of the first?

Digimon Adventure Tri - Bubble Blast!  I love the look.  Patamon at the wheel, bitches.

Re-Kan! - I'm hoping it's like a moe Youkai Watch.

Ore Monogatari - The premise is a bit different, which makes it interesting.  The protagonist certainly is not the "average guy" in most anime.
