Nintendo already had the perfect IP for the shooter market that suited their image well but was still "cool"

Emphasis on "was." No one cares about Goldeneye anymore, dude. If Nintendo had an exclusive Bond game releasing tomorrow, it would do exactly 0% for the Wii U. Bond was relevant when Doom and Wolfenstein were the biggest shooters on the block.

Except Bond is more popular as a character IP now than he was even in the 90s. Skyfall made more money than any Brosnan era Bond film.

Bond is time less. Bond is always cool. He's what every man wants to be and what every woman wants.

Nintendo quality Bond games with fun local multiplayer would've done great for Nintendo, obviously the brand declined after it left Nintendo, but that was to be expected.

Look at something like Batman ... a character with similar appeal to kids and adults, he's now a huge gaming IP but only because the new Batman games are of high quality. But people always liked the character.
