If money isn't a huge pressing need, go ahead and get a Wii U.

Even if NX is a new console, and even if it comes out in 2016, it's not like it will hit its stride in software until 2017/2018.

And I don't think backwards compatibility is happening going forward either. So if you want to play these games you may simply have to own a Wii U or hope Nintendo ports them over time to the future NX platform. 

My rule of thumb is this ... if you can afford it, and there's at least 10 games on a console you want to play (either released or coming out soon) ... buy it.

If you're in Canada or can go up North, I'd reccomend getting the new bundle from Wal-Mart up there ... you get three games (Mario 3D World, Nintendo Land and a choice of MK8 or Smash) and given that the American dollar is higher the $299.99 price effectively becomes more like $265 or something.
