Nintendo doesn't waste money on worthless multi-million dollar ad campaigns because they are a fiscally conservative business. Obviously they don't need multi-million dollar ad campaigns, and if video game sites actually meant anything, games with crappy reviews wouldn't sell so well on all systems (contrary to popular belief, this isn't limited to the Wii).

@ those who think Epic is doing this to "push technology" that's total bullshit. Epic stopped pushing technology when they started making games on gimped consoles. They made an engine for HD consoles for money, and no other reason.

Given the fact that they stated UE4 will be developed on the Microsoft's and Sony's next console (and maybe Nintendo if their hardware is similar) and then on the PC last, I agree. They're in it for the money, now. There's nothing wrong with that. In fact, I'm will to bet that if the MS and Sony follows Nintendo's strategy and only marginally increase the power of their next-gen consoles and it's Nintendo that produces the ultra powerful console, Epic will still develop UE4 for MS and Sony first.

I agree.  Nothing wrong with that.  Money is what all companies ultimately want.

That said, middleware engines are far more useful for consoles than PCs anyway.  PCs are much cheaper and easier to develop for.  They don't need middleware to make a big high-graphcis game, and most PC devs have their own engines, and don't pay to license them out.  Epic is focusing on consoles because console devs are the ones who will actually pay them for their engine.  Blizzard, Id, and Valve sure as hell aren't going to.
