Also the idea that games are more well received when they are cross gen is a logical fallacy. It's anecdotal evidence. Evolve was reviewed as such because of its shortcomings; much like any cross-gen game could have shortcomings as well.
Oh and it should be said that I game exclusively on last gen (haven't upgraded yet) and I do enjoy new games; I'm just trying to shed some light behind their reasoning
