No the naming is terrible. You might think about it, but it's still terrible.
Wii -> Wii U. Oh it has Wii in the name, but U? Oh it has a tablet. It's a peripheral.
3DS -> N3DS. Is it like DS -> 3DS? It plays 3DS games, but it doesn't have N3DS games...
They're not good, and trying to be "clever" and "deep" is just going to confuse consumers.
