Mario Kart Ds, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8.... double dash, super circuit are only ones they bothered thinking of a name for. |
I reckon they had people come up with a whole bunch of names for their next console, decided theat gamecube was the best name because at least it told people it played games, then decided they needed to make a cube-shaped console.
Nintendo 64... A 64bit machine made by Nintendo. That name seems like Nintendo had no clue what to call it so they just went with the development name.
Wii sold despite the name, not because of it. Wii U...'nuff said.
DS was about an inspired as N64 for a name, and it didn't sell all that well in year 1 and 2, and launch aligned Wii sold considerably better than DS in years 2 and 3. So it only really became a beast in year 4.
The only good names they had are Gameboy and NES.
