People really have short term memories?
Nintendo explained the whole Wii U name. Wii was for we play together and now You can play on your own too (i.e. targeting the hardcore gamer and hardcore 3rd party games).
Sadly their vision was too Japanese deep in thinking and the average westerner don't get it. They just see it as a letter slapped on.
In any case the name alone is not why the Wii U is failing in sales. It is how you present the gaming device.
