I don't think the WiiU is failing because of it's name. I don't even think the name is having any substantial affect on it's sales.

I don't think that either, but people mistook the WiiU for an add-on, instead of a console. The New 3DS is a 3DS that is New. But nothing on its name implies that WiiU is a new console. Maybe Super Wii, Ultra Wii, Wii2...  Imagine if one of those parents wanted to buy a new console, but rejected the WiiU because they have to buy a Wii first. Imagine how many parents bought a WiiU game for their kids Wiis.

Yeah a similiar thing when the 3ds first launched people I know thought it was just another DS. Nintendo made the same mistake twice in a row.
