op: i definitely disagree with your premise. But only from my point of view. I don't count handhelds, spin-offs, or crossovers as zelda titles. Why, because they just don't matter to me. with that said i think you'll find we get an AVERAGE of one zelda per console with some exceptions.
Zelda 2, and majoras mask come way out of left field as far as zelda games, and twilight princess releases on 2 consoles giving the wii and gamecube 1.5 zelda games to their libraries. So no, i don't think anything crazy has happened to the franchise.
