I find it both surprising and curious that data tracking in the US is apparently both so limited in demand that the NPD is the only reliable source of information, yet so valuable that NPD gets away with charging what I'm told is an arm and a leg for its data. I would figure the latter would draw at least one competitor, but so far that doesn't seem to be the case.
