But it is really difficult for any club to get promoted let alone avoid getting relegated straight back without spending some money. Some clubs do overspend which is a problem yeah, but if they aren't spending too much over or have the money in the first place then they should be able to spend that money to better themselves.

It's worth remembering that a lot of clubs don't have huge stockpiles of cash so fining them money for making a loss is just about as ridiculous as you can get. Remember when Portsmouth had their financial issues and got relegated a couple times. Well if the FFP rules were in place then they would have got a huge fine on top of their existing issues and the club most likely wouldn't even exist any more.

PSG & City only got fines because they were playing catch up to the other big clubs. The FFP rules ensure that no one else will ever be able to do that and big clubs will stay big for ever and small clubs will stay small for ever. Take Germany for example, it was hard enough to compete with Bayern Munich as it was, with these new rules it is pretty much impossible. Bayern have the revenue to just buy all the good players themselves and for anyone to actually compete with them over a prolonged period they would have to compete with them financially, either by paying their own players extra so Bayern don't poach them or by buying good players themselves. Now if a club were to do that they would just be fined in to oblivion and Bayern would just continue to dominate for ever.

But hey, if you like competitions not being at all competitive and the same team/s winning every single year then I guess FFP rules are great.

The Hull City fine is 200.000€. Quite manageable for any club playing in 1st or 2nd league. No idea when the amount is due, but selling any player would be enough to pay the fine in case they don't have it cash.
PSG and City are cheating their way to the top. If anything FFP punishes that. Unfortunately FFP isn't able to stop it.

Bayern always had much more money than any other Bundesliga club and yet they still couldn't win every year. Bayern also can't buy up all players in the league.
You know there's another possibility to get on top. Good youth academies, scouts, smart transfers, solid economics, smart contracts, building up a fanbase etc.. It's no secret that this takes longer than a few years though.
