This is exactly what I was thinking. Sure, it would be nice to have a lot of the features the other 2 have that Nintendo doesn't offer, but trophies and "no gimmick controller" are much less important to me than the things really want. I'll buy a PS5 or XB4 for the things they offer, I don't need the exact same thing on Nintendo's console. Having it might help get more multiplatform games on the system, but I'm more interested in VR, improved Miiverse and a region free system.
Things I would like, but aren't top priority for me:
- more spec parity with the competition
- ability to take screenshots and record video
Things I would rather not have:
- Achievements. I prefer when such things are built into a game so that they work within that game the way the game was designed, instead of developers having to adjust the design of their games a bit to fit into the achievement system.
- Unified handheld and console system. I once created a thread about wanting something like this. I was thinking of iOS devices, where the iPod touch is the portable game and the iPad is the console (just the basic idea of what I had in mind). But I've thought about it more. Some game types just work much better as portable games and some work much better on consoles. A fusion system will produce a library of games much better suited to one of those (probably handheld), while the library suited to the other kind of games will probably suffer.
