Fun fact, late ports have been successful on other platforms (OG Wii included). For some reason Wii U is the only console where late ports can't find success.

Nintendo gave 3rd parties a console where core multiplats are struggling to succeed. You blame the games, I blame the audience. Which is fine, if Wii U fans primarily just want Nintendo games well they can look forward to more of that.

Lateness will always reduce sales, unless there are mitigating factors like the later version being far more desirable in some way.

If Wii U owners just didn't buy third party games full stop, LEGO City would not be approaching the million mark. Then again, that game wasn't a late, poor quality port.

Here's the thing, when you point to (arguably) successful 3rd party games on Wii U its generally exclusives. 3rd parties aren't going to give Wii U exclusives unless Nintendo wants to pay for them.

Doesn't mean that multiplats can't be successful though.

I just don't buy the idea that them being almost universally late, gimped, or niche had no bearing on their sales. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
