The name alone can't keep sales, but it would without a doubt help at some extent.

The name being this easy of a representative to what thd product is and from what to associate it have a strong power of self advertizement. People who had a PSP would feel more like getting a PSP 2 if they liked the first.

The thing is that could have had a snowball effect, with a better early support ot could have attracted more interest from developers, what could bring more customers what would create a cicle and make it be a successful product. I seriously don't know why it's not called PSP 2 to be honest. Brand can sell products alone and that's a fact. Now, only the name being different would help that much, we would need the snowball effect so the system would have more support and self marketing by the games that would make more people want it.

Anyway Sony really messed up a chance to have another great product and continue a strong brand they created. Also, with the amazing success of the PS4 and the Vita being able to be really associated with it as they shared strong funcionaties as the Remote Play I also don't know why they are not pushing it hard.

I see what you're saying, so there is XYZ that caused the Vita to fail, but if it had a better name(PSP 2), people may have been more inclined to buy it and silly Parent's would've bought it for kids simply because they remember the PSP. Which in turn could've cause XYZ that are the real problems to not be problems?
