Sony are not dropping the price at the moment, it's still £190... which is shockingly high. I think Sony are ok with the sales drop off right now and are just trying to claw back some profit.
I think PS3 sales are doing ok considering how old the console is, but if they dropped the price by £50, it would certainly sell better.
Also, I belive that at this point on the PS3 lifespan Sony prefers to make more profit than selling more units.
