Last PowerISA version was released in 2014. PowerPC is anything but ageing.

Gaming has moved on to x86. That is what is standard now. Sticking with PPC already caused Wii U to have an underpowered CPU, it will do the same to their next system if they retain it.


Even if the Wii U had an x86 CPU I don't think support would've been much better unless the system as a whole was whole generational leap forward. 

Making the system comparable to a PS3/360, several years too late resulted in a system core gamers didn't seriously, and as a result developers too.
