The architectures should be similar as Iwata has said he wanted future platforms to "absorb" the Wii U architecture, that likely means a similar GPU design philosophy from AMD, just one based on mobile computing, in the same way the Tegra K1 is a Kepler based GPU for tablets/phones. |
The GPU is one thing, but Wii U is already suffering from retaining the PowerPC 750 CPU architecture they've used since the Gamecube. Dragging it out for a fourth generation in a row would be a monumental misstep.
