I wouldn't take it too seriously. Nintendo said the same thing about the DS a year before replacing it with the 3DS. 

The Wii U still has 2015 and even if they launch a Fusion console variant in say fall 2016 ... that means it still has basically 1/3 of its primary lifecycle left, so technically what he's saying isn't incorrect. Wii U still has a good chunk of its lifecycle ahead of it even if Nintendo moves to launch a handheld/home multi-platform in fall 2016.
