It's a role phones just perform better. But when it comes to AAA handheld gaming, when you sit down longer or are commutor who's travelling long stretches, handhelds are just better.

The market for that is fairly small.

Even in airports, I travel a lot for work, I see virtually no dedicated handhelds anywhere, even with kids it's all tablets/phones they're playing games on.

The truth is I think no one really 'needs' to play a hardcore game on the road. If they want to play a really deep game, that's what the home console and 50 inch screen is for.

Portable gaming is just something to eat up a few portions of downtime, but I will say though people seem to get addicted to smart device games too, I know a couple of girls hooked on Candy Crush, even on an airplane, they'd rather play Candy Crush than Mario 3D Land or something.

In the past you had to buy a dedicated handheld if you wanted to play on the road at all, but that isn't obviously the case anymore.
