At retail the big publishers mostly charge $60 because they're selling games like AC Unity which regardless of what you think of it has a team of 100s of people working over 2-3 years. Their budget releases normally skip retail and are sold directly through the PSN store etc, but this doesn't mean that they're not comparable. Not sure how much it was in the US but Child of Light was 12 pounds here in the UK, the whole point of these smallers games is that they're made by much smaller teams and have a much shorter developement cycle- that is reflected in its price. Now I don't know the specifics of this game but going on what I've seen it looks like it was made by a few dozen people over 12-16months- which is very comparable to a large scale indie title.

You're just spewing out of your ass now. You admit in your last line that you don't know the specifics of the game and you don't know how many people are working on it and you don't know how long it's taken them to make. How can you say all of the things that you've said here and earlier just off of pure speculation? Nintendo is charging $40. Nintendo knows that they probably could charge $60 and make a similar amount of money because it uses a character that people recognize/adore and it has the word Nintendo on it (which is all that a lot of people need to buy a product from them), but they decided not to. Kudos to them for lowering the price on Captain Toad, Mario Party 10, and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. They certainly didn't need to.

Time to leave this thread me thinks, you were confused at how someone could think $40 is overpriced for a retail game like this, I've offered you my logic. I don't think theres anything more to be said.

I'm certainly not confused. I read what you were trying to say and I understand what you were trying to say and I wholeheartedly disagree. All I really wanted to say is that we don't have enough information on this game to determine if $40 is a fair price or not.
