We did not agree that God of War doesn't have the greatest story. We agreed that Kratos is not a fascinating nor relatable character. The point I made is that based on Greek mythos he does not need to be as long as he completes the role of being a hero. In greek mythology heroes don't need to be relatable guys, but as the video you sent to me stated there are certain requirements that a hero must meet to be a proper hero in a tragic greek myth. Kratos met all three of the requirements. The primary reason they attacked God of War was because they were judging games like movie critics, rather than just letting the game be a game with a formulated script for videogames.

Metal Gear Solid is a great videogame story that would have to be tweaked just like God of War if it were to be adapted for the silver screen. As you have seen though, its not worth it without the right artistic mind behind the adaptation though.

Sony has been known time and time again for having a cinematic quality about their gaming and combining gameplay with cinematics. This is what Sony brings to the table in terms of exclusive content a great portion of the time with their heavy hitters. God of War has been praised and emulated because it ties story presenation with gameplay. Kamiya games are played as if you had a couple quarters and were experiencing it from an arcade, but God of Wars experience is formulated to be a full experience in the greek realm while sitting on your couch.

Also, you stated that God of War is different from Bayonetta. I stated that no, they are not. The reason being is that they are based off of traditional arcade style meter based combo systems (much like traditional fighters) except in fighting games the meter gives you a bonus power/special move/instinct mode that you can innitiate once your bar is filled. The difference between the power maneuvers is simply this...which moves put the power in your hands in said games?

Bayonettas maneuver which gives you ultimate freedom and power against your foes involves dodging their attacks, creating Witch Time, which slows their timeframe and allows you obliterate them (or drain them as much as possible) before witch time is over.

God of War's maneuver which gives you ultimate freedom and power to obliterate your opponent of almost any size is your parry attack. It requires much more skill to pull off than Witch Time. but the knock back power gives makes opponents who were particularly hard to knock down a huge widow of damage before they gather their senses and there is no witch time to in which to pull this off. Lighter opponents can be launched into the air immediately with parries.

Also, God of War features more tactics puzzles and perks/attributes gained by beating bosses for progression than bayonetta, but I digress. The point is that they are in the same realm of genre.

If you want a different type of hack n slash that is moreso just considered a typical action game then you'e talking Assassins Creed, or even an RPG or (ARPG) which uses hack n slash methods then we could say Demon Souls.

Devil May Cry and Rygar set the bar and tone for the creation of  God of War, while Bayonetta only took queues from Devil May Cry. When it comes to style of hack n slash they are fundamentally the same. Its just that one is an eastern style hack n slash and the other is western. Western style hack n slashes give more attention to story, hence why the new DMC had a more well thought out story than the old DMC even though it wasnt that inspired (in truth).

Its also because of God of War, Bayonetta has fatalities. Kamiya has inspired the existence of god of war and also learned from it so instead of fans bickering, the existence of both franchises should be applauded as they further a the genre.

And I quote: "I never said it was great"

Make up your mind. Does GoW have a great story or not?

I'm done with this conversation because I don't even know what we are talking about any more. Do we really need to debate the scale of differences between GoW and Bayo? Really? Do you really need to keep subtly taking shots at Bayo?
