God of War didnt tarnish the screwed up nature of Greek mythology, the mythology was already dark,mischevious, incestuous, sexual (in more ways than one including beastiality) bloody and always a struggle for control to begin with. If Kratos was considered a real demi-god or god back in those days he would've been looked at no different than Heracles or Ares. Also being the only demi-god to be allowed to become a full god. Seriously? What woman (Hera) breast feeds her bastard step child giving him god-like strength and then tries to kill him with serpents as a toddler? Seriously. She knows her husband cheated and gives favor only for it to lead to murder? Heracles as a name in itself means "heras glory" yes...the same child she tried to kill. That whole mythological family was screwed up from Hera and Heracles the way down to Zeus with this father Chronos. |
...I don't think you are getting what I am saying. Greek Mythology and all of its vile whatnots are great, but that doesn't make God of War a good story. It just means that it has some cool lore behind it. Watch the Extra Credits video I posted a few posts back for a better description of how God of War's story devolved into rage fueled nothingness.
