After yesterday's NPD report, Microsoft has released a very informative PR statement, as can be found on Major Nelson's blog (http://majornelson.com/2015/01/15/xbox-one-closes-record-breaking-holiday-looks-ahead-2015/

The very first interesting statistic is:

Some interesting statistics about 2014:

• Xbox 360 became the best-selling seventh generation console of all time in the U.S.

However, that statement is in direct collision with VGC numbers:

LTD numbers say:

X360 --- 44,357 million

Wii ------ 41,636 million     (2,721 million difference)

However, 2014 sales are:

X360 ---- 1,431 million

Wii    ----- 0,206 million  (1,225 million difference)

This means, even if we assume that X360 passed Wii on the very last day of 2014 (and disregard a possible few thousand that could have been sold until Jan.3, 2015), there is still a huge 1,496 million difference in sales.

Basically, X360 is at least 1,5 million overtracked in the USA.
