This. The series was completely ruined by this abomination of a game mechanic. Never getting another Mario Party until traditional style returns. 

I still can't figure out why the hell anyone thought this mechanic would be a good idea. Granted, it works for the 5 player Bowser vs everyone mode, but outside of that, it's as useless as tits on a bull.
