If it's subscription based then it's not really comparable. Personally I'd much rather pay a one-time price to own a game than a monthly price for access to a bunch of games that go away as soon as I stop paying, but I know that subscription model is preferable for others.

Is it exclusively subscription-based now? You can't play games through PS Now unless you subscribe?

I don't believe this is the case. It's considered the main offering, but you can still rent games for shorter designated times if you'd prefer.
