Not useful for what a Beta is originally intended to do, finding and fixing bugs, of course marketting is a positive, but then again, wouldn't it be a better idea to not have temporary bugs or glitches put a bad taste in the mouths of people?

In the end I think we agree though, people need to be able to get their hands on a barebones Splatoon multiplayer demo/beta to increase awareness and allow for an online community to grow more easily.

I think Nintendo will do something similar to the demo code distribution for Smash Bros. It really got the hype train going.
