I consider games revolutionary that introduce new ways of playing. Like Half-Life with it's insane story-telling, no cutscenes and so on. Sure, it's also a shooter, but it just did things differently and in a good way. Or Grand Theft Auto, mixing together countless genres and more or less creating the open World as we know it today. Or what about Mario 64, defining how 3D plattformers are made to this very day. Thatare revolutions to me. I just don't see where Halo should have had such an huge impact. |
Makes sense. In that sense Halo was a wildly popular franchise but did not revolutionize the shooter industry in the console realm. I dunno...I think it was really Halo 2 that was the revolutionary game for online shooters on consoles, or the multilevel map based shooter rather than arena style.
