Forums - Gaming - Which console exclusive of this century is the most revolutionary game?

?

Halo: CE 170 25.07%

God Of War 46 6.78%

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune 97 14.31%

Gears Of War 29 4.28%

Demon's Souls 70 10.32%

Super Mario Galaxy 211 31.12%

Super Smash Bros Melee 55 8.11%

Total:678

Console exclusives are often used by people to try to convince others that their console is better than the other person's console. Its also the reason many people own a console, to play the games which they cannot play on other platforms. But which console exclusive of this century is the most revolutionary in its genre or in gaming as a whole? I limited the discussion to this century because I consider Super Mario Bros as the most revolutionary game in the whole of gaming.

Any game which was a timed exclusive for a console and later came to PC or to its successor can be  considered a console exclusive. But any game which later came to competing consoles or their successor cannot be considered console exclusive so no BioShock or Mass Effect.

TLOU for showing that games can reach mainstream media without being linked to school shootings.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

If by revolutionary you mean what games are most emulating it, then out of those, Gears of War. However, RE4 influenced Gears of War, so then my answer would ultimately be RE4.

Game: Minecraft

Console: PC

(I'll label PC games as console game from now on in these kind of threads, as VGC members always try as hard as possible to exclude PC games from their "what is the best/most influential so and so" threads).

Why Minecraft? It sells a ton on PC and any other gaming system it's been ported to. It evoked many imitations and inspired lots of other indie developers. It's the most successful and arguably most influential indie game ever.

I don't think that was an exclusive...

Woops. Forgot to put on my reading glasses. Gonna think of something else.

No TLOU, no vote.

The PS5 Exists.

Wii sports?

How was Galaxy revolutionary? It didn't start any sort of revolution in gaming. Innovative, yes. Revolutionary, no.

Only right answer is Halo. Not only was it the biggest reason for the Xbox selling as well as it did, without which there might not have been a 360, it also greatly boosted the popularity and playability of FPSes on consoles. Halo 2 was also one of the first big online console games.

Wii Sports
Tetris

Wii Sports could be played by anyone and was the poster child of the whole motion genre
Tetris was the title who started the whole casual thing
