If Nintendo had released Panasonic Q as Gamecube, I think it likely had sold a few extra units as a DVD and games player for kids rooms later in it's life, a little like Xbox selling a few extra units for the same purpose. However, the 99€ pricepoint for GC was crucial, so I don't think Panasonic Q had been able to reach the same price.
By the time Gamecube was out, there's really nothing Nintendo could have done but to secure profit from it. If Gamecube had been out a year earlier, maybe then Panasonic Q would make sense.
