The reason I'd be fine not seeing a TPS Metroid is because of how it restricts your access to buttons. With a lock on system, you don't need to glue your thumb to the analog stick, giving you access to four more buttons during combat. While aiming was important in Super Metroid, I think that Prime does a good job at showing how well Metroid boss battles can be designed without precise aiming.
I wouldn't hate it I guess, but I think that it could be done better and offer more options with a lock on system like in Zelda.

Hmm.....How about a control scheme more similar to MPT allowing for precise aiming while maintaing a lock on system? I think a third person game would allow them to make platforming more prevalent. I don't know, maybe I'm just baised because I prefer TPS to FPS.
