There will be a future where all three will likely fore go hardware manufacturing.
Microsoft is a software company at at heart, there have already been calls in the non-gaming media for Sony to divert their resources to their still profitable enterprises i.e. non hardware related. In fact there is a strong shift across the entire industry to moving towards software, rather than hardware focused services, both within and outside of entertainment services. Google for example doesn't give a crap if you use their hardware as long as you are using their software.
Having said that Nintendo sold over a million units of hardware last week, how's that compared to Sony and MS? Of the three they are the one that most cares most about having complete control of their business, hardware and software and while the finances aren't at their best they are likely now making reasonable profit on both hardware and software. While going Android or iOS could open up a huge potential audience they will lose alot of control in the process and I don't see Nintendo willing to swallow that pill any time soon.
