People tend to complain if a limited edition is widely available as it's not limited enough but then when something is truly limited people complain as they didn't get a copy of it as there wasn't enough stock so pretty much a danged if you do and danged if you don't situation.
Somehow Nintendo needs to find some middle ground such as ....
1. Making sure everyone has a chance at getting the item so that would throw out exclusives at non chain stores such as the Nintendo World Store as that was a scalper's field day.
2. Make sure the item is on the market for at least 1 full day as they would give most collectors a chance to get ahold of one.
3. If the item is exclusive to a certain store chain such as Gamestop, Bestbuy, Walmart ect... make a deal with that chain to limit the item to 1 per IP and credit card to make it much harder on scalpers.
Three simple tasks that could eliminate most of the scalping on these limited editions. As for common items like the GC adapter and Amiibos, that is just Nintendo dropping the ball as these could have been mass produced.
