Nintendo never really took the Brazilian and the rest of Latin American market seriously. Even in their best times in Brazil, they only ollowed third party companies to sell their products here instead of having their own operation. During the 90s for example, you could buy a Genesis/Mega Drive for significantly less than a Snes.

It is not a Nintendo decision, the distributor for the whole region Videojuegos Latinoamerica is the one that chooses how and what to sell in each country of the region, they have a small satellite company in each country, Videojuegos Brazil, Videojuegos Colombia, Videojuegos Chile and so on. They are the ones chosing to leave the market because they don't want to compete anymore, they made a lot of money of the Wii high and now they are cutting corners to keep making a lot of money.

If Nintendo really wants to go back to the Brazilian market they need to hire a new company to distribute in that country or do it themselves (as it happens with Sony and Microsoft), which has never happened since around 1998.

True. But Nintendo did nothing to support their partner.

While Sony and specially MS not only localize their games to our language and even manufacture their products in the country.  Nintendo essencially do nothing.
