Possible, and definitely indirect citations:

Level Up Blog - N'Gai and Keightly discuss reports of "Wii Passing Xbox 360 Worldwide".  This was before the Financial Times September report - meaning it was VGC or neogaf being cited.

IGN Wii - Cassamassia responds to a blog using VGC data to say that Xbox 360 will beat PS3 which will beat Wii.

 

There are others in the thread ioi linked to...but Forbes, Fortune, Washington Post, Ny Post, etc are all pretty big
