I think 2015 will be Nintendo's final big push for the Wii U. Peak software output, peak marketing effort, etc. There's plentiful 2015 games already announced, and there is undoubtedly more to come that are still unannounced. I know there's that article flying around out there from an interview with Bill Trinen that says there's no new Mario in 2015. The problem is, that article was published on January 2nd, which means it was conducted in December. He was in all likelihood talking about 2014, and the comment was taken out of context.  Which is something that happens all the time, unfortunately.

It's very unlikely that Nintendo would break huge news like that in a small-time interview. There's also no reason for Nintendo to publicly state that they're *NOT* releasing something so specific, it doesn't serve any purpose.

Even if there's no new Mario game ready for 2015, something will surely be discussed or shown at E3. Certainly EAD Tokyo hasn't spent the last 14 months doing nothing but working on Captain Toad. It's a huge studio with at least two main teams.
