If dark and brooding games is something you care about, then that is cool. Just having high expectations of that type of game from Nintendo or Retro, you are just asking for disappointment. I mean, I hope I am wrong. I would love to see a dark franchise from Retro, but it isn't something I expect from them. You could argue for Prime, but they made 2 DK games meaning they probably don't take the dark aesthetic seriously. Greatness is what I expect considering all of their games have been fantastic. DKR2 could potentially be that game of greatness (if it exist which probably isn't). ''Just give it chance.''

I love Metroid from the bottom of my heart, but its never been a big franchise. I believe it could move more Wii U units than what DK did, but its software sales probably wouldn't get near TF. It would be nice to be proven wrong.

As for B-Man and Bio, they still share strong similarities to Prime regardless of story. I would say both games are intelligent, but maybe not on the same caliber as Prime, IMO. Another thing about Metroid is that I feel it is too smart for people of that type of demographic which alienated a lot of people who were playing Prime. The decling sales of the two games compared to the first are reflective on that.

Bayo 2 and ZombiU aren't exactly mainstream, they would not have sold gangbusters on any system.

A well rounded and diverse library is important for a console, and with third party support gone, they need games that don't fit the Mario/DK/Kirby image.

I'm not saying Bioshock or Batman aren't clever, they are simply not a substitute for something like Prime. If you want to argue that we should just turn to PS/Xbox for darker games, why buy Nintendo's family friendly games when LittleBigPlanet 3 and Knack exist?
