SM64 DS had new textures and I'm sure you can force an emulator to output at 1080p if you wanted.

Well Nintendo has nothing to do with the emulators...

What I mean is, making something HD from something not HD takes 30 seconds of work.

The hard part of an HD remake, the texture/lighting upgrade, was done by them. Therefore they have done 99.5% of what it takes to do an HD remake of Mario 64. And the other part you can do yourself.
