Prime 2 was pushing technological boundaries for its time and platform, and taking risks by being so dark when Nintendo has a family friendly image to maintain.
TF remains in Nintendo's platformer comfort zone, and isn't pushing Wii U's limits. It's still an excellent game, but it doesn't have that drive to push the envelope that characterized prior Retro games.
