Multiplat would have been idle, but maybe Insomniac couldn't find a publisher willing to fund the game they wanted to make and let them keep the IP. MS took the risk and that's why they got the exclusive. It might not be a big hit, but it can be a million seller. Also, I imagine Insomniac was given the option of a PC port to make extra profit. |
There is nothing wrong with bundling, its business. Super Mario wouldn't have become as big as it was in the 80's and 90's without bundling. MS took the risk but they knew Insomniac was a great developer even though they aren't a top tier developer and their games could fill their ranks in the same way they filled Sony's ranks in the past. Unlike Sony, Microsoft cannot creatively afford to replace them with their internal devs. Sony creatively can even though they cannot outspend Microsoft.
