I think Nintendo is not planning on selling more units than they forecasted (3.6 Million for the calendar year), possibly because they would lose money if they did.
If you recall, Nintendo booked a $681 Million impairment charge in the 2013 FY. That should tell you the reality of Wii U's situation. Wii U was loss making, but they booked the losses in advance in 2013 in order to manufacture a positive 2014 result.
