That's seriously wishful thinking. How is Nintendo not in a hurry? They have one of the worst selling consoles in history. And you seriously think that the GCN would have lived longer if not for the PS3? Really? The GCN wasn't even selling at $99. They'll make money treading water on the Wii U until 2016, where they'll try to not lose money another 3 years in a row because of failing hardware.
